We believe communities know best of their needs. We work alongside them to assist them with their development plans and they are our main priority. We create customized exchange programs and organise all logistics on the ground for international short-term targeted placements and cross-cultural learning for both university and high school students.

Our clients come from different high schools, colleges and university faculties including nursing and midwifery, medicine, allied health, education, business, human rights, law and social science faculties. Some of our long-term clients include:

Community Service Trips

For high school students

Experience the real Cambodia and give back at the same time. A rewarding hands-on community project that provides an opportunity to work with locals and gain a better understanding of the culture. Through our strong on-going community relationships, we ensure the project is well managed, and that it provides local employment and sustainability.

Sister Schools program is a collaboration with schools in rural communities in Siem Reap. Working alongside school teachers, students and local builders TravelED Asia student groups help completing annual development plans in order to create a better studying and teaching environment.

Happy Khmer New Year!!!

Khmer New Year is a three-day celebration. It usually falls on April 13th or 14th and marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of a new year.

The first day of Khmer New Year is called Moha Sangkran, which means “Welcome the Angels”. They believe that the new gods will come to take nourishment from the fruits and give their blessings to the home.

Cambodia is Open

During the past few years, Cambodia has done exceptionally well in rolling out vaccinations and keeping Covid numbers down. I was proud to see Cambodia up there with wealthy nations regarding the percentage of the population who were first double, then triple, and now quadruple vaccinated.

Vichhay’s Top Picks from Travelling in Cambodia

.. luckily, Cambodia hasn’t had many Covid-19 cases, so traveling around the country in 2020 was still possible and safe. Since there is not much to do, I’ve taken advantage of this time to visit my own backyard, crossing destinations off from my domestic travel bucket list.

Extremely competitive games of Kahoot! Delicious lunches. Sunrise trip to Angkor Wat. I enjoyed learning (and it was very beneficial to learn) about the facade of the tourism industry e.g. people coming to build houses because it makes them feel and look good rather than teaching and giving the Cambodian people the resources and skills to do it themselves. I learnt how important it is to engage with communities on the ground and ensure that the project is managed by people from Cambodia.

Being able to impact the lives of so many people with a group of like-minded professionals. I felt privileged to work closely with your rural communities and to be trusted to enter their homes and share our experiences.

It was a rare opportunity to combine one’s professional capabilities with a passion for travel, culture, and history. Your Team made this possible and allowed us to create memories and relationships that were otherwise not possible.

We had a lot of laughs together and a few tears on departure. We have developed friendships that will last a lifetime, and I look forward to seeing them again, where they can correct my Khmer and I – their Australian Slang!

Vichhay, Chornai (Lin) and Kull from TravelED Asia were all essential in facilitating a positive experience both at placement, and in my free time. I enjoyed exploring Siem Reap and beyond. They were all very helpful in giving me advice on things to do outside of placement.. READ MORE

Our policies and commitments

We strive to ensure that every element of the company conforms to a responsible tourism policy, and are continually monitoring the social, economic and environmental impact of our operations

Communities in charge

We believe communities are the experts when it comes to their own needs and priorities. Our experience has shown us that our successful programs are led by the community and we see our role as facilitating this process, offering skills-exchange and working alongside them to assist them with their development plans.

No orphanage tourism

It is natural and right to care about poor and vulnerable children, wherever they are in the world. But what if this support was actually part of the problem, not the solution?
We believe that children and families do best when they remain together

Living wages

Since there is no minimum wage in Cambodia, this can lead to exploitation. At TravelED Asia, we follow benchmarks set by reputable labour unions/ILO. We are committed to pay a fair and healthy wage to our team so they can best support themselves and their family.

Labour laws

TravelED Asia is an ethical company that believes in following the Cambodian Labour Laws by the book to protect and value our staff members.
