TravelED Asia is an educational travel company, locally owned and based in Siem Reap – Cambodia. We create customized exchange programs for international short-term targeted placements and cross-culture learning experiences for both university and high school students.
Do you believe in responsible tourism?
TravelED Asia can make it happen. We are strongly against ‘voluntourism’, gratuitous projects or orphanage visits. Instead, we collaborate with communities and they are our main priority as we believe they know their needs best.
Are you looking for a program that engages with local communities in genuine ways and that is done respectfully?
All our programs are designed to meet the needs of both the community and our participants. We work alongside them to assist them with their development plans and support them in choosing the right project that suits their needs best according to our participant’s study skill and knowledge base.
Are you nervous about traveling overseas?
Traveling to a foreign country can be daunting but don’t worry, you are in good hands. Our professionalism and vast experience in organizing trips makes us vigilant in terms of logistics, risk assessments, safety evacuation plans, and dietary requirements.
Our bilingual teams help to maintain 100% English with the students whilst also providing local translation and support throughout the placement. We work 24/7 to support and ensure that our groups are having a wonderful time and the program goes smoothly.
Hi,
My name is Vichhay, I’m very much a “local” – born and bred in Siem Reap. Working in an office is good but I much prefer being out in the field with our team, running around to see how your placement progress is going with us. I know you’re probably not sure what to expect, but don’t worry we’ve got you covered, as all our team are Cambodian and we know the country inside-out.
I’ve been managing faculty and high school groups for Australian companies and universities in Cambodia for the past 7 years and am responsible for all the groundwork in setting up placements with the relevant authorities.
After finishing high school, I started working in the tourism industry and it has so far given me over 10 years of experience in leading teams across various hotels within Siem Reap. Being a very driven individual, I started my first travel business at the age of 25. Advocating for children’s rights in Cambodia is my passion and I’m sure to bring you up to speed on current developments and interesting news stories during your placement with us. I love traveling, learning about history, and sharing my experience of growing up in Cambodia.
Hi,
My name is Phirun – Welcome to Cambodia! I’ll be working with you when you are on-the-ground and I’ll be introducing you to our host partners as well helping to coordinate work activities throughout your placement time with us.
I’ve been working as a research assistant for an organization that is working towards de-institutionalizing children from orphanages back to their communities (very important work!). I conducted interviews with children trapped in orphanages and their families who were eager to have them home. Before this project, I worked as a research assistant with IMCF project Cambodia team – conducted pre- and post- training tests with caregivers and observed nutritional education sessions at different levels in the field. I also worked at Don Bosco Vocational Training Center for girls in Phnom Penh for many years as their secretary and admin officer. I worked at the Don Bosco Community Education Support Program in Battambang province and I graduated from Don Bosco school in Phnom Penh with a Diploma in Secretary and Computer skills.
Hi,
My name is Sophea, and I look forward to welcoming you to my home country of Cambodia.
I graduated from Mondial Training Center in Battambang province to become a teacher. I spent 2 years teaching at Wat Ek Phnom primary school and offered private lessons to the monks and poor students in the surrounding area, then moved from being an English teacher to an English-speaking tour guide and interpreter in 2009.
With many years of experience of showcasing my home country to visitors from across the globe and through my work as an interpreter, I find it easy to communicate with journalists and researchers with the Cambodian government and the community. In 2015, I joined TravelED Asia team and started working as a Placement Coordinator for Go Global Program of Curtin University and numerous universities afterwards. I’m very passionate about the university job and enjoy every single experience I have had with the students.
Hi.
My name is Chanchornai (Lin) – I’m looking forward to showing you my beautiful Cambodia!
I’m from Kampong Cham province, I moved to Siem Reap in 2007 as a result of my dad’s new job. I joined a Christian School to learn English and then started working for them as a volunteer. I like going out for home visits, helping people with health (natural healing) like massage, hydrotherapy, and cooking vegetarian food is my absolute favorite.
In 2017, I graduated from a training course organized by the Ministry of Tourism and became an official tour guide. I’ve been able to meet so many people from all around the world and have an amazing time sharing my experiences about my beautiful country with them. In 2017, I joined the TravelED Asia team, working closely with our communities, local experts and oversea students which has been a highlight in my life so far. 2021 is my 3rd year at University and I’m also a part-time Khmer Language teacher to foreigners who live and work here. While you are here with us, I’ll be delighted to teach you some sentences for some fun conversations within our lovely communities.
We do all the ground work, so our local partner can concentrate on the field work. If you would like to know more about our local partners, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Our clients come from different high schools, colleges and university faculties including nursing and midwifery, medicine, allied health, education, business, human rights, law and social science faculties.
We source our students and clients through our direct networks and through our existing partnership with Australian-based educational travel experts, Nineteen Degrees.
