This project is a collaboration with schools in rural communities in Siem Reap. Working alongside school teachers, students and local builders TravelED Asia student groups help completing annual development plans in order to create a better studying and teaching environment. This project can be arranged to last between 5 and 10 days.
Stay at a rural traditional homestay as a responsible way of helping to increase job opportunities and income for its community members. Join the community youth leadership team to exchange experiences and offer creative programs that build capacity in line with their future careers. Meet the needs of the School Development Plan by working alongside local construction teams in building and delivering school projects that provide a better learning environment.
We currently run Sister Schools Project in collaboration with rural schools around Siem Reap, Cambodia.
We will work with your school to arrange a departure time that best suits you. Sister Schools Project typically runs all year-round except during our three main holidays, Pchum Ben (3 days in September or early October), Water Festival (3 days in late October or November) and Khmer New Year (3 days in mid-April). However, we’re flexible, so it’s up to you!
To ensure appropriate ratios for risk management and to meet our responsible project guidelines, Sister Schools Project teams range from 10-20 students, 1-2 school staff members or teachers and 3-4 TravelED Asia team members. There is no limit to the number of students who can join the project from one school, as we can split students into smaller teams.
Typically Sister Schools Project are from 5 – 10 days in length. However, the duration of the Sister School Project can be tailored to meet your school requirements.
We aim to give all students the opportunity to taste a lot of different Cambodian dishes and we try to vary the menu to cater to all tastes. Group must inform us of any dietary requirements prior to the trips so we can work with our meal providers.
We’ve arranged a traditional rural homestay for this trip, we ensure that the house is secure and close enough to the project. Bedding (mosquito net, pillow and a sleeping mat) is included and there is access to a bathroom facility.
